How long does it take to set up a well ran business?
For Eric James of ERICTOTHEMOON.com it took only three months. Now where most people would settle for working 8 hour days for those three months, Eric took to working an average of 13-15 hours everyday for that time period. Even better he shut off any distractions and focus of other business ventures to really tune into exactly what he was trying to accomplish with his newest venture at the moment – a poster printing company.
Eric had to spend a large amount of the time setting up systems that didn’t currently exist. A large amount of his effort was placed on customizing pieces of technology and systems he was already familiar for, to come up with new ways and methods of making his company operate.
At the core of creating the business, Eric focused on dedicated quality. He was a stickler for ensuring the Posters were nothing less than perfect. Because of these efforts, Eric saw an immediate amount of loyalty from early customers who purchased from him. Even better this dedication to quality led Erics Poster business to being raved about in several publications and news outlets, landing him even more customers!
Eric eventually met a lead investor who purchased a majority stake in his business. He was able to do this by competing on quality and taking opportunities to gain press coverage as they came to him.
The moral of the story – A business takes more than a few hard nights to get up and running. Even a business veteran like Eric James had to remove all distractions and put tons of focused energy and effort into creating something successful!
